To create a network of Young Women Leadership Schools in major cities in Texas.

The Foundation for the Education of Young Women in 2012 will have completed seed funding for a single-gender (female) college preparatory school started in the six major cities in Texas.

The six schools will serve a diverse student body of 3,000 urban women.
Will offer an education built on rigor, relevance, and relationships.

Will be distinguished by a tradition of attention to individual students resulting in a high acceptance rate to college.
Will teach wellness as a life skill.
Will be recognized for outstanding science, math and technology teaching programs.
Will offer summer institutes in math, science, and technology at key universities.
Will be recognized as offering the most distinctive high school leadership programs in the nation through a partnership with the Posey Leadership Institute and Austin College that emphasizes "servant leadership". The centerpiece of the experience at a FEYW Leadership School will be learning, leadership and lasting values.
Will emphasize global and public policy issues by providing students with summer study opportunities.

Our Mission

The mission of the Foundation for the Education of Young Women (FEYW) is to support single sex, college preparatory, public education in Texas that will give young women in urban schools the academic skills to achieve success in college and life by thinking critically, leading purposefully, and living active, healthy and responsible lives.


Our Core Values

College Preparation

FEYW's ultimate goal is to have 100% of the students in its sponsored schools attend and graduate college.
Through grants, the Foundation supports programs to enhance the educational experiences for the girls.
The Foundation recommends a full-time college counselor to support the mission that every girl attend college.
The Foundation assists teachers at the sponsored schools by providing enhanced professional development opportunities that ultimately benefit the students.
